Sun Joe Electric Reel Mower

If you’re looking for a cheap electric reel mower then the Sun Joe is the front runner. The Sun Joe “Mow Joe” is a 24 Volt cordless electric reel mower that features a 16 in cutting swath. It uses a modest 54 watt mower and a 24 volt battery to deliver up to 90 minutes of cutting action. This combination is enough to handle a 1,600 square foot yard (or approx 1/4 acre). If you do run out the Mow Joe has a manual mode just like all other electric reel mowers. The Mow Joe also comes with 5.28 gallon bagger that is easily detached to dispose of the clippings in the compost pile or at the curb. This model also features a lot of little perks such as a battery indicator, keyed start that prevents “unauthorized access” and a removable battery for disposal or recharge. The mower has four adjustable lengths that allow you to keep the lawn any height up to about 1.8 inches. When it comes time to store the mower, you can hang it on the wall or merely maneuver it to the corner where it’s out of the way. The Mow Joe weighs approximately 40 pounds so it’s liftable, just remember to bend your knees.
Sun Joe Electric Reel Mower Review
This mower has many of the same features as the CEL CY1 electric reel mower, in fact they are practically identical. It’s not uncommon for lawn mower manufacturers to use similar parts or even have them manufactured by the same company and just slap their logo on it at the end (this is particularly true of riding mowers). So it’s no surprise to see these two mowers looking similar. The one thing that is surprising is the price tag. The Sun Joe “Mow Joe” is about 30 bucks cheaper (at least on Amazon) which makes you wonder what CEL is thinking.
This is a great electric reel mower for anyone who has a small yard and wants the environmentally friendly aspects of a reel mower but the convenience of a powered mower.
