But where it really shines is that it uses a lithium ion battery for superior performance. Most batteries are lead acid batteries which suffer from things like slow charge times and poor performance towards the end of a charge. Having a lithium battery is a big asset because it means that you can charge faster so if you mow frequently you don’t need multiple batteries and it also means consistent power all the way up to the end. No more battery dying early and having to switch over to manual mode or trek back and install a spare. The Gardena works well for medium sized lawns and can even push into the larger lawn category for those who are quick or purchase the extra battery. The construction of the Gardena 4025-U is noticeably better than other electric reel mowers and given proper maintenance, will last for many years.
The Gardena retails for around 400 dollars and while it is expensive for a reel mower, it’s on par with the price and quality of an electric mower and much cheaper than a decent gas powered mower.
